Storage Information

How The Big Space works:

After you have placed an order with us, we will send you an e-mail to confirm that we have received it and are processing your order. Your order can take up to 5 days to start processing, so don't worry if you don't hear from us straight away.

When it has been processed, we will e-mail you back with a confirmation date for dropping off your boxes (if applicable), and a confirmed date for collecting your belongings for storage. While we try to also offer a guide as to what time of the day we will arrive, this is not guaranteed.

An example would be: Friday 26th May, Morning. This means we will pick up your items on Friday, but we can't promise that we will be there in the morning.

Included in this e-mail will be a price for the storage you requested. On collection, this is payable in full, either by credit or debit card (please check the FAQ for types of cards accepted), cash (on collection), or cheque (made payable to: The Big Space).

If your order changes inbetween ordering on our website, and collection of your items - don't worry, we will recalculate your storage cost when we come round to collect your items, and you will be charged the new amount. You do not need to e-mail us to change your order.

When collecting your items, payment for the whole storage period must be taken as this time. Remember, if you pay by card or cash, we will reduce the price of your order by 10%!

Then, we will deliver you your boxes, on the date requested, along with an inventory form, a sheet of information and a roll of packing tape. The box size is 18" x 12" x 12" (45cm x 30cm x 30cm) - image below.

We will then arrive on your collection date to collect your items. Please make sure that you have your mobile phone with you, and we will call you if we have any problems. When we arrive, all boxes must be fully sealed using tape on both flaps of the box, and the inventory form must be filled out. Any items you have insured for extra must also be clear (i.e written on the side of the box). We also ask that you write your full name on the top of the box.

Sometimes, a customer will have their boxes delivered, and realise that they have ordered too many or too few (we always recommend you order 1 box more than you think you might need). Therefore, the cost of your order could change. This is why we only take the payment from your card when we have collected your belongings, and we will confirm the amount taken by e-mail, and in person when we collect the items. You will be given a receipt by the collection team which states the final storage cost.

Now you can relax - your items are now safely in storage! Relax, and have a good end of year party. We will e-mail you in late August to arrange redelivery dates but don't worry, these will be at the start of your term, so you won't be left without your stuff.
